Transforming Raphael Hospital: How Corian® Solid Surface Elevates Patient Safety and Care

With an unwavering commitment to gold standard care and environment, Raphael Hospital stands tall as Israel’s prime high-tech private hospital. Nestled in the heart of Tel Aviv, the institution blends state-of-the-art technology and excellent patient care to create a nurturing atmosphere. One of the pivotal factors underpinning this commitment is the introduction of Corian® Solid Surface in the facility’s operating rooms.

At Raphael, the safety of patients and the efficiency of medical teams are paramount. The hospital boasts 13 state-of-the-art operating rooms, each replete with advanced medical devices and healthcare technology. But what truly sets them apart is their innovative wall cladding. With Corian® Solid Surface panels, these rooms now benefit from enhanced hygiene and functionality.

The journey of Raphael Hospital is a testament to innovation and vision. The original building, constructed in the 1980s, had limitations. Recognising the potential for transformation, the hospital embarked on a remarkable project, weaving together the expertise of the hospital management, skilled designers, visionary architects, and local contractors.

Enter Operamed, the renowned Italian firm specialising in constructing critical hospital areas, from surgery rooms and intensive care units to advanced laboratories. Carlo Busolin, Operamed’s International Sales Director, shares insights into the selection process: “Every minute detail was scrutinised. Corian® Solid Surface emerged as our top choice for wall cladding in operating blocks due to its superior qualities in curbing microbial spread. With its certified hygienic performance, Corian® is an ally in maintaining European healthcare standards.”

Harnessing the power of Building Information Modelling (BIM), Operamed shaped the entire 5,000 square metre project, reducing the time lag between design and production. With components crafted with precision in their Padova laboratory, including 400 square metres of wall cladding using Corian® Solid Surface, the final assembly saw no requirement for on-site adjustments. The entire project, from supply to installation, was executed in just 15 months.

Raphael Hospital doesn’t just stop at infrastructure. Their alliance with top-tier physicians and the inclusion of cutting-edge tech, like the Mako robot for joint operations and the Da Vinci robot, showcases their dedication to superior care.

Operamed’s reputation as a leader in designing, supplying, and installing medical prefabricated systems for critical hospital areas is well-founded. Their Truespace prefabrication system offers a holistic approach, reflecting decades of experience and expertise.

Corian® Solid Surface stands out as a game-changer in the healthcare industry. Its non-porous, seamless design facilitates hygienic and easy-to-clean spaces. The integrated design, devoid of crevices, ensures mould, germs, and viruses find no foothold. Being a low-VOC material, Corian contributes to better indoor air quality, aligning with Green Building certification standards.
