Elizabeth Bay Minimalism

This project is a minimalist design that focuses on the maximum harbour views that the 7th floor apartment provides. It was an entire renovation that added a bathroom, moved the kitchen and created the most out of a relatively small apartment area for a client that lives mostly in London. The apartment was to be designed for the family for the yearly visit to Australia, and at other times to be a corporate rental, therefore materials and finishes needed to be clean and durable.

Corian^® was the first and only choice for all benchtops and bathroom sinks due to its clean seamless nature and its ease of maintenance. This apartment needed a product that was simple to clean yet created a soft minimalist aesthetic. Brooke and the team also had the added issue that the project required a 7 storey walk up of materials due to the small and frequently used single lift. Corian^® was ideal for its weight and ability to seamlessly join panels once within the apartment.

The kitchen was moved from its original front window location with the best views, to the back of the room in order to provide living and dining spaces with those incredible views. As this was primarily an apartment for short term use, the kitchen was minimised to a modicum of elements in favour of space, and created an altar island that kept the flow of space continuous in the room.

Corian^® was the perfect choice for this project due to its ability to be cut on site and joined, which enabled the seamless appearance of the scheme. “this was the first time we used Corian^® sinks for bathrooms, and we could not have been happier with the outcome. It is very easy for the cleaners to spotlessly clean this apartment when the short term rentals leave.” Brooke Aitken said.
