Ultraspace’s Mark Gacsea Transforms Queensland Bungalows into Stunning Hamptons-Inspired Retreat
Renowned designer Mark Gacsea, the creative mind behind Ultraspace, has breathed new life into the ‘Cape Cod Bungalows,’ a previously existing house, turning it into a magnificent coastal retreat. The extensive renovation project included the addition of an entertaining pavilion, two bungalow suites, and a luxurious upper floor Master Suite, all expertly designed to embody the elegance and timeless allure of Cape Cod.
Mark’s vision for the project centered around creating a cohesive and stylish timber and white theme that seamlessly connected the various spaces, including the darker timber floors, posts, and outdoor ceilings. To achieve this, Corian® Mahogany Nuwood was meticulously chosen as the primary material for the work surfaces. This elegant choice not only enhanced the overall aesthetic but also offered practicality, as it was capable of withstanding water exposure.
The Master Suite exudes luxury and indulgence, boasting exceptional features such as a Window Bath nestled within a dormer window, complete with a Corian® hob and surround. Adjacent to the bed, a generously-sized upholstered Window Seat, with Corian® facing and underlighting, invites relaxation and contemplation. The concealed Walk-in Robe incorporates Corian® as luggage shelving, harmonizing with the floor and cabinetry details. This design element extends to all the bedrooms, which feature wardrobes with the same thoughtful detail.
The centerpiece of the home, the ‘Hamptons’ style kitchen, showcases Gacsea’s attention to detail. The Corian® benchtops feature exquisite Ogee edge detailing, adding a touch of sophistication to the culinary space. In line with the Hamptons-inspired design, the bathroom vanities mirror the same style, incorporating Corian® Mahogany Nuwood to create a cohesive visual narrative that seamlessly ties in with the flooring.
A notable design element throughout the house is the recessed Corian® inset frame in the showers, providing a convenient and stylish storage solution for shampoos, soaps, and other bathing essentials.
The outdoor spaces of the Cape Cod Bungalows also received the designer’s impeccable touch. The outdoor kitchen and laundry areas feature Corian® benchtops, offering both functionality and elegance. Motorized roller shutters provide added security and protection from the elements, allowing these spaces to be enjoyed year-round.
For those seeking relaxation and a refreshing beverage, the entertaining pavilion and ocean deck boast stools and dry bar tables with Corian® tops, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The crowning jewel of the entertaining pavilion is a sprawling modular outdoor lounge, complemented by a magnificent custom 2m x 1.1m ethanol firepit coffee table in Corian® Platinum. This captivating centerpiece invites gatherings and serves as the perfect spot to enjoy the oversized outdoor TV or simply take in the breathtaking private gardens.
Mark Gacsea’s meticulous attention to detail and his ability to seamlessly blend luxury with coastal charm have transformed the Cape Cod Bungalows into a true haven of sophistication and relaxation. With its Hamptons-inspired design, impeccable finishes, and thoughtful use of Corian®, this project stands as a testament to Mark’s commitment to creating timeless and awe-inspiring spaces that captivate the senses and elevate the art of living.
