SoL Residence

Overview

SoL began as a rundown 1980s-built mansion and was transformed through a complete interior and exterior renovation into a contemporary residence inspired by the effortless sophistication of Palm Springs, with a touch of Hollywood Glam.

Spanning an internal living area of 1,242m² on a 1,931m² site, the project was designed to celebrate light, texture, and luxurious detailing. Belle Casa Interiors collaborated with Sky Development Group (client), Improv Build (builder), and Nest Landscape (landscape designer) to create a cohesive design balancing timeless elegance with contemporary character, elevating the home into a statement of modern Australian luxury.

The Brief

A renovation of this scale demanded surfaces that could do more than perform — they needed to carry the design language of the home. The brief called for a feature element in the living area with genuine visual depth and the ability to be backlit, offering something beyond a flat, solid colour. In the bathrooms, the brief called for a seamless, low-maintenance vanity solution with fully integrated basins, delivering a clean, high-end finish without visible joins between benchtop and basin.

Material Specification

Corian® in Dune Prima was specified across two applications:

  • Feature TV backboard — Corian® Dune Prima, backlit
  • Integrated vanity tops — Corian® Dune Prima, with fully integrated basins

Corian®’s ability to be backlit and thermoformed made it possible to deliver both a luminous feature wall and a sculptural, seamless vanity form within the same material palette.

Design Outcome

In the living area, the backlit Corian® feature wall introduces a soft, luminous quality that enhances the Palm Springs–inspired palette, adding a layer of visual interest that a flat colour finish could not achieve.

In the bathrooms, the integrated Corian® vanity tops provide a seamless, sculptural form. The smooth transition between benchtop and basin, with inconspicuous joins, reflects the level of precision achievable when the material is fabricated and installed correctly.

Why It Works for Similar Projects

Large-scale residential renovations often need a single material that can flex across very different applications — from a backlit feature element to an integrated wet-area surface — without breaking the design language of the home. Corian®’s thermoformability and inconspicuous joins allow it to move between decorative and functional roles across a project, giving designers a consistent material story from living spaces through to bathrooms.
