Club Musgrave – café and amenities
Overview
Club Musgrave Bowls received a fresh, modern update that brought the entire venue together with a cohesive, contemporary design. The refurbishment introduced inviting new spaces — including a modern café and upgraded bathroom facilities — elevating the club experience into a welcoming destination for socialising, dining, and community connection.
The Brief
The café called for a counter that could integrate equipment and subtle step-downs into one visually unified workspace, holding up to high-traffic servery use. The bathrooms called for custom wash plane vanities across the male and female facilities, prioritising hygiene and moisture resistance. Both spaces needed a finish consistent enough to read as part of the same design language, front-of-house through to amenities.
Material Specification
Corian® in Everest was specified across two applications:
- Café counter benching — a seamless counter with integrated equipment and step-downs, built on custom substrates over the joinery, with waterfall gables supporting the bar equipment. The waterfall ends use a two-tone finish combining Corian® and laminate board, recessed to create a clean line between joinery and Corian®.
- Bathroom wash planes — custom-made vanities for the male and female bathrooms.
Corian®’s non-porous, moldable surface allowed both applications to be joined without visible seams.
Design Outcome
The café counter reads as one continuous, functional workspace: integrated equipment and subtle step-downs sit within a single seamless run, with two-tone waterfall ends blending Corian® and laminate board into a clean line between joinery and benchtop.
In the bathrooms, the custom wash plane vanities carry the same smooth, clean design into the male and female facilities — each one properly supported and set with the correct fall for drainage, so the finish stays strong under daily use.
Across both spaces, Corian® complemented the venue’s warm timbers and tones, giving Club Musgrave a clean, durable surface that balances modern functionality with an inviting, natural feel.
Why It Works for Similar Projects
Club and hospitality refurbishments often need one material to do double duty — a high-traffic servery counter and a wet, high-hygiene bathroom setting. Corian®’s workability supports the templated, custom detailing both applications call for (waterfall ends, integrated equipment, wash plane vanities), while its non-porous, seamless finish holds up in both settings. Specifying a single colour across front-of-house and amenities areas is what gives a venue like this its consistent material language.
