Why it matters
Every join, grout line and hard corner is somewhere contamination can sit. Corian® Solid Surface is non-porous and, when properly cleaned, does not support the growth of mould, mildew or bacteria. Basins, splashbacks and benchtops are formed as one continuous surface built for constant cleaning – and CASF works with you from concept through to fabrication, Australia-wide.

Featured product
A one-piece vanity for aged care, healthcare and accessible bathrooms. Support is formed directly into the Corian® – nothing applied, nothing to loosen and nowhere for grime to collect.

Curved corners, shroud hides pipework; AS1428.1-2021 installable.

Joined seamlessly, thermoformed into multiple workspaces and repairable on site.

Seamless; can be repeatedly cleaned and disinfected without deterioration.

At Westmead, handwash basins and baby bathing areas were fabricated as monolithic units – bowl, bench, downturns and splashback – with sharp edges and corners rounded off.
Wall-mounted 334D and 333D scrub basins comply with AusHFG Part D for Type A & B basins, alongside Type B handwash stations and multi-position scrub troughs.
Available in an extensive colour palette – from clinical Glacier White to the warmer Rain Cloud specified throughout Westmead.

Why Corian®

Infection control at the point of care
Infection control starts where hands are washed. Corian® basins are formed into the benchtop with coved splashbacks – no joins, grout or sealant lines – and the non-porous surface, when properly cleaned, does not support the growth of mould, mildew or bacteria. In DuPont testing with hospital disinfectants including bleach, quats and hydrogen peroxide, any slight deglossing was easily restored with a wet Scotch-Brite™ pad – always follow the disinfectant maker’s directions.

Accessible, thermoformed design
Basins, benches, nooks and upstands are thermoformed as one piece, in configurations that can be installed to comply with AS1428.1-2021. At Boollam Boollam, about 140 ensuite vanities were each made as a single seamless unit, removing the ledges of a shelf-and-basin approach, in matte Glacier White chosen for residents living with dementia.

Wellbeing-led, fully integrated
Hygiene doesn’t have to look clinical. Nurse stations are thermoformed into multiple workspaces with integrated lighting, joined seamlessly and repairable on site. At Westmead, staff stations, 42 integrated basins and baby baths were all specified in Rain Cloud.
“Corian® has enabled typically clinical spaces to show a warm and homely feel whilst maintaining the high level of WH&S requirements for a hospital environment.”

FAQ
Every join, grout line and sealant bead is somewhere contamination can sit. Corian® basins, splashbacks and benchtops can be formed as one continuous surface – Corian® Solid Surface is non-porous and, when properly cleaned, does not support the growth of mould, mildew or bacteria. It is also certified as a hygienic material to DIN EN ISO 846, resists staining from blood and betadine in DuPont testing, and has been made with zero silica since 1967.
Yes. Corian® Solid Surface has been tested by DuPont for compatibility with a wide range of healthcare disinfectants, including bleach, quaternary ammonium and hydrogen peroxide solutions. Where a stronger product causes slight deglossing, the finish is restored with a wet Scotch-Brite™ pad. Always follow the disinfectant manufacturer’s dilution and contact-time directions, and remove any quat residue from wipes with hot soapy water. See the disinfectant test results (PDF).
Yes. Basins integrate into a Corian® benchtop with our joining technology, with coved splashbacks and rounded corners formed in the same material. At St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Corian® wall protection was prefabricated off-site, with a contrasting colour defining the services zone. Wall protection has been tested to AS 5637.1 (Group 2).
Yes. Corian® is renewable in situ: minor marks and scratches can be removed by maintenance staff following the care & maintenance guide, and more significant damage can usually be professionally repaired and restored to its original finish – without replacing the whole surface. Nurses stations, for example, can be repaired on site.
Corian® comes in an extensive palette – from clinical Glacier White to warmer tones like Rain Cloud, used throughout Westmead Private Hospital. Contrasting colours can help residents with impaired vision, as with the Linen vanities and Glacier White basins at Estia Health St Ives. Lighter colours generally have a matte finish and need less attention to keep a uniform appearance. View colours.
