The Noosa Tiny Home

This 10m x 3m award-winning tiny home in regional Victoria demonstrates how thoughtful design and material selection can transform compact living into a beautiful, healthy family home. Designed for a family of three – a husband-and-wife team in their late 30s and their five-year-old son – the home was created to support everyday family life, work-from-home needs and long-term wellbeing, without the burden of a large mortgage.

A key material choice from the outset was Corian® Solid Surface, selected for its alignment with the clients’ low-tox, healthy home values. Its durability, long-term warranties, tactile quality and refined aesthetic made it ideal for a home designed to last. Used across benchtops and splashbacks, Corian® integrates seamlessly with the interior palette, elevating the overall design while offering a hygienic, practical and resilient surface for daily family living.

From the beginning, the clients were clear that home needed to be more than a place to sleep. It had to feel calm, light-filled and special, while also being well insulated, low-tox and built for longevity. These principles guided every design decision, ensuring the home feels warm and welcoming across all seasons.

Design Approach & Key Requirements

The layout prioritises thoughtful flow, natural light and cross-ventilation to create a healthy indoor environment. A ground-floor main bedroom was essential, complete with generous wardrobe storage and enhanced acoustic insulation to minimise noise from the loft above. Dedicated work-from-home spaces for both parents were seamlessly incorporated, allowing them to run their business comfortably from home.

At the heart of the home is a generous, full-sized kitchen – an uncommon feature in tiny home design. Flooded with natural light, it includes modern appliances, ample Corian® benchtop space, a dining table and a cosy sofa nook. Clear circulation between benches ensures the kitchen feels open and functional rather than cramped.

Smart storage solutions are integrated throughout to eliminate clutter, with concealed spaces for muddy boots, books, kitchen appliances, spices, cleaning equipment and laundry essentials. Living in Victoria also meant designing for indoor comfort year-round, with spaces that encourage connection, play and relaxation regardless of the season.

A Bathroom Designed for Real Life

The bathroom was a major feature from the beginning. Unlike many tiny home designs where bathrooms feel compromised, this space was intentionally generous. Evening routines often involve the family spending time together, which inspired the inclusion of a Japanese soaking tub for their son, dual monsoon shower heads and a built-in bench seat for comfort. The result is a space designed around real family rituals, not just square metres.

Safety & Recognition

Safety was carefully considered throughout, particularly with a young child sleeping in the loft. Secure balustrades, a solid staircase and thoughtful child-safe detailing provide peace of mind while maintaining flow and visual openness.

This thoughtfully designed home has been recognised nationally, winning BEST Family Tiny Home Australia 2025 and BEST Tiny House Design Australia 2025 at the Tiny House Industry Awards – celebrating a project where material choice, including Corian® Solid Surface, played a central role in achieving both beauty and performance in a compact footprint.
