Seidler Group City Apartment

Seidler Group was engaged to design a home that retained the luxury of space the clients had enjoyed in their previous inner-city residence. The project involved merging four separate apartments on the 22nd floor of an existing building into one expansive, penthouse-style home. The result is a distinctive and sophisticated residence that offers all the amenities of day-to-day living while delivering layers of beauty, richness, and moments of excitement.

Design Vision

The clients envisioned a home that reflected their well-travelled background and appreciation for art, culture, and colour. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to create tailored environments that met both the functional and emotional needs of modern living. Through the considered use of materials, textures, and colour, the design evokes memories of the clients’ travels, resulting in a deeply personal and distinctive home.

Within this broader vision, the bathroom was designed as a minimalist and functional space that complemented the refined aesthetic of the residence. Corian® Cameo White was chosen for the vanity for its seamless appearance and versatility, enabling the design team to realise a fully integrated and cohesive form.

Sarah Seidler explains, “We wanted a streamlined, fully integrated bathroom vanity, and Corian® allowed us to create the entire unit, including the drawer fronts and basin, from a single continuous material for a clean, minimalist look. We also incorporated a fluted drawer front to echo the fluted glass used elsewhere in the bathroom, and Corian®’s versatility made it possible to achieve this detail seamlessly.”

Construction & Challenges

The transformation of four apartments into one presented many logistical complexities. Every element had to be designed and planned to fit within the constraints of the building, including transport through the existing lift. Despite these challenges, the project successfully delivered a cohesive, spacious home that celebrates the panoramic city views the clients fell in love with.

Material Performance & Learnings

The Corian® Cameo White vanity fabricated by ProSolid demonstrated the material’s exceptional flexibility and performance. A key learning from the project was that Corian® is highly adaptable and responds well to a brief requiring minimal, durable, and easy-to-maintain surfaces.

The mitered front edge enhances the impression of refined craftsmanship, giving the vanity the appearance of a solid block of white stone elegantly carved away. The use of Corian® in this project elevates the bathroom beyond the functional, achieving a level of sophistication and refinement that seamlessly complements the home’s overall design vision.
