Corian® provides a premium cinema experience for Hoyts
The durability and easy to maintain qualities of Corian® were one of the main considerations for Ignite Architects when tasked to refit the 13 screen Hoyts cinema and retail food outlet in Chadstone, Victoria.
The specification required material that would withstand the wear and tear of the high-traffic area of the retail food outlet, as well as having a premium look and feel to support the premier cinema experience.
With easy repair techniques, Corian® was the obvious choice for Ignite. Any scratches or marks to the material can be easily buffed out and repaired on site, reducing the risk of any disturbance to the popular area of the cinema. Corian® surfaces can be easily wiped over to maintain a fresh, clean appearance over a long period of time.
Along with the advantages of using Corian® in a public place, the architects chose the material for its outstanding design flexibility. Ignite wanted to use a solid surface that could easily be shaped to the unique design of the compounding curves required for the popcorn, candy and drinks counters. Corian® was the only surface material that could achieve such a difficult fluid form.
David Frost, project leader, Ignite Architects commented: “Corian® fitted the brief perfectly. We wanted a material that would create cutting edge design cabinetry in a premium cinema, while being very resilient for the tough environment. It was the best product for the best result.”
Corian® Glacier White, Aspen, Lava Rock and Hot were used on numerous food and drink counter tops as well as the bar area.
