Motor Yacht More

Boat Style embarked on a comprehensive interior and exterior refit of a 44-metre Benetti Vision superyacht. Central to the redesign was a transformation of the Main Saloon, where a large entertainment cabinet and timber dining table were removed to create a more open and functional space. In their place, a ceiling lift widescreen television and an innovative counter were installed, enhancing the ocean views and providing a multifunctional area for dining, socialising, and work. This adaptive counter, designed to accommodate ten guests, serves as a casual drop-in zone with easy access to the Butler’s Pantry & Bar, and doubles as a workspace for onboard meetings.

The design of the Main Saloon features striking curved and fluted walls, a nod to the original épure design by Francois Zuretti. To complement this aesthetic, Corian® was selected for its versatility, durability, and seamless integration. Thermofluted Corian® waterfall ends and a curved counter design allowed the project to maintain Zuretti’s design intent while ensuring practical usability in a marine environment.

The choice of Corian® Carrara Lino, with its neo-classical design, perfectly complements the elegant silvery tones of the Main Saloon. The organic, less formal aesthetic of the counter aligns with the overall ambience of the yacht. Functionally, the counter has become a central hub for guests, offering a perfect spot for morning coffee or dining during inclement weather. Its raised height provides uninterrupted views of the ocean, and its proximity to the crew’s service areas enhances food and drink service.

The counter perfectly captures the yacht owner’s vision of a convivial yet sleek, design-focused space. Its unconventional layout for onboard dining blends seamlessly into the overall design, giving the impression that it has always been a part of the yacht. With formal dining options in the upper Skylounge and al fresco spaces on the deck, this new counter offers a more casual, dynamic dining experience.

Designing for a moving vessel like a superyacht introduced unique challenges. The pitch and roll of the yacht in motion meant the counter needed to accommodate flex. Positioned across the centreline and near midships, the counter’s torque was a significant consideration. A custom-engineered aluminium sub-frame was constructed to provide a strong base, minimising flex in the fluted ends and stone slab. Additionally, wireless chargers and power sources were integrated into the counter, which involved meticulous planning to reduce interference, maintain charging efficiency, and allow future access to electrical components.

The installation of the substructure and stone required precision and strength. With the aid of a crane, a team of eight carefully manoeuvred and assembled the components onboard, ensuring the counter met Lloyds Yacht Registry standards for structural integrity and fire safety.

Boat Style’s commitment to thorough research and collaboration with marine contractors was key to the project’s success. The attention to detail in refining and rendering all design aspects ensured the final product exceeded expectations.

This beautifully refitted superyacht entered the Australian luxury charter market, offering guests an exceptional blend of functionality, design, and comfort.
