Yangarra Estate

The Yangarra Estate is a luxurious, state-of-the-art cellar door designed to immerse visitors in the winemaking journey, from vineyard to bottle. JBG Architects + Interiors envisioned a sophisticated space that reflects Yangarra’s ethos—attention to detail, purity of expression, and an authentic connection to place. Every element of the design was meticulously curated to enhance the experience, creating an environment that is as refined as the wine itself.

For the tasting bar joinery, the architects and designers sought a material that would symbolise the surrounding landscape and reflect the estate’s rare geological formations. Corian® was chosen for its seamless fabrication, allowing the bar to appear as a singular monolithic form, much like a solid piece of carved stone. Corian® Carbon Concrete features intricate veining and fine flecks within the surface that evoke the natural movement of sandy soils, reinforcing the connection between the built environment and the terroir.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, Corian® was selected for its high performance and durability. Given the nature of the space, resistance to wine stains and general wear was a key consideration. However, the determining factor was the surface’s unique response to temperature changes — mirroring the qualities of fine wine. Its silky surface adds to the tactile experience, enhancing the luxurious ambiance of the cellar door.

The organic pattern of the chosen colour helps to minimise the visibility of scratches which is sometimes a concern in darker colour palettes, and any significant damage can be easily repaired, ensuring longevity and maintaining the pristine look of the space.

This project encapsulates a journey of discovery, celebrating Yangarra’s commitment to organic and biodynamic farming. The bespoke design elements, earthy tones, and carefully selected materials pay homage to the winery’s philosophy. The result is an elevated and immersive wine-tasting experience that honours both the land and the craft, offering patrons a space that is as timeless and sophisticated as the wines it showcases.
