University of Mons, Belgium

The University of Mons is an important university located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium, near the French-Belgian border, and approximately 50 kilometres from Brussels. Recently, the Couvent/Monastère des Visitandines, a historical convent/monastery completed in 1717, has been renovated in order to host the reading room of the University library.

A variety of elegant furnishing installations made with Corian® Solid Surface (in Glacier White), nicely incorporate lighting solutions, perfectly matching with the materials and the colours of this fascinating, historical building.

The design combines flat and curved surfaces, cleverly exploiting the design and fabrication versatility of Corian®.

Thanks to the non-porous nature of Corian® and the seamless joins, the furnishing solutions can also be easily and quickly cleaned and sanitized, contributing to the hygiene of the spaces, an increasingly important requirement for public spaces.
