NHS Cardigan Care

NHS Wales required extensive cladding to the walls of the ground floor and level one lobbies of the NHS Cardigan Integrated Healthcare Centre. The requirement was to essentially wrap the public-facing exterior of the lift shafts in a material suitable for daily interaction with large numbers of people and which would stand the test of time.

Interserve called in Eric Wilson & Co Ltd to achieve the desired results, choosing Corian® Solid Surface to match the aesthetic qualities of stone but which is also lightweight in comparison, flexible to work with, completely homogenous and offering a hygienic surface that’s both straightforward to maintain and repairable if required. Corian® Solid Surface has long been appreciated in clinical environments not only for its versatility and reliability but in particular for its hygienic properties.

The colour of Corian® chosen was Carbon Aggregate, a refined, neutral tone with a subtle ‘textured’ effect. Modern and attractive, this in-demand option — one of several recent colour extensions that answer today’s design needs — offers the ideal combination of style and practicality.

“The original specification was for slate but the job required the panels to be mechanically fixed above 3 metres in height without any visible fixings. Corian® has all the qualities to achieve both the look and the performance required, together with lasting value. We are really proud of this project, which ran smoothly from to finish.
