Montague House

The Montague House project was a renovation and extension to an existing Edwardian period house in South Melbourne, VIC.  Corian® was used for the kitchen benchtops and integrated sinks, which fuse into the entire space.

Corian® was chosen for the flexibility  to be formed into the curved shape of the design along with the ability to avoid visible joins. No other material would give the flexibility required to create a single form. The durability of the material was a consideration in the selection process and the seamless integration of the bowl with the benchtop is unmatched in other products. The warmth and softness of the material to touch was also a consideration in the selection, as the island bench is a centerpiece of the family kitchen.

The large extent of the benchtop exceed the availability of stones and other engineered products. The unique Corain® island bench shape is curved and asymmetrical.

The client is elated by the exceptional quality of finish and integration with the bowls and shape of the island bench, which still looks new after more than 18 months of use.
