Bringing the Geyer Architects Office to Life with CASF Timber

Geyer Architects have a rich history of creativity and innovation behind them. Launched in Melbourne in 1977, they’re focused on championing intelligent, timeless design, bringing a dynamic and youthful energy to a range of projects for major brands and high net worth clients across the world. Instilled in the Geyer DNA is an emphasis on facing the future, with constant evolution and strategic partnerships at the core of each collaboration.

The project

It’s no surprise, given Geyer’s values, that CASF timber was their material of choice when it came to bringing their new office space to life. When their Perth studio’s lease was up for renewal, the Geyer team wanted to take advantage of better commercial conditions with the cultural benefits associated with a higher level of amenity. In keeping with tradition, they sought a new studio within a refurbished heritage building, located in the heart of the CBD. Geyer’s intent was to create a design hub that allowed their team to collaborate and co-create with clients and industry partners. The Cloisters building in Perth was quickly identified as their dream studio location.

As one of the few remaining convict-built colonial buildings of the mid-nineteenth century in the central area of Perth, The Cloisters unifies old with new via the marriage of innovative technologies and traditional details across the heritage site. With an open plan studio space, Geyer were able to expand and contract based on project needs and demands, testing concepts explored with clients and leading by example.

The use of CASF Timber

Instead of a traditional reception area, the space was designed to be more client inclusive, with the studio entrance taking the form of a central kitchen space. This office breakout space notably used CASF timber across the kitchen benchtops, splashback and table. Given the solid timber nature, the Sapele (B) has natural knots and variations within the grain and colour which add to the character and uniqueness of each piece. This timeless timber brought points of interest within the Geyer kitchen space, contrasting richly against the cool, clean whites to create a natural, inviting space.

As all CASF Timber products are sourced from responsibly managed forests which comply with the highest of standards of environment protection, Geyer’s future-focused values are also embodied within this quality material choice.

CASF Timber can be used in a variety of ways across both residential and commercial spaces alike. With a range of species that can adapt to any kind of mood or architectural style, this timber is timeless in its appeal, as well as offering easy maintenance benefits. You can easily find the perfect timber product to bring your design dreams to life. Each species has been chosen for its hard-wearing nature and pleasing aesthetics, giving CASF Timber customers only the best of quality and longevity.
