Snowdrop – Residential Bathroom

The project, Snowdrop is a high-end residential ensuite remodel by designer Melissa Woodcroft, where Corian® Solid Surface is used not just as a surface material, but as the architectural foundation of the entire space. Fabricated by Multiform and delivered by Clayfield Kitchens and Emwinn Constructions, the project demonstrates what becomes possible when a material is taken well beyond its conventional application.

Project Overview

The brief called for a master ensuite that felt resolved — not assembled. Every element was to read as part of a single continuous composition, with no visible transitions between surfaces, joinery, and fixtures. Achieving this required a material capable of forming structure, not just covering it. The suspended slab construction added a further layer of complexity, demanding exceptional precision in both fabrication and installation to protect the integrity of the finished design.

Material Choice

Corian® was selected for its ability to unify the entire ensuite under one seamless material language. Its workability allowed the vanity to be constructed as a complete structural form — walls, drawers, and integrated washplanes all resolved in the same surface — rather than a benchtop laid over separate joinery. Inconspicuous joins ensured the composition read as continuous, reinforcing the spatial clarity the design demanded.

Beyond its formal qualities, Corian® brings performance suited to a wet environment. Its non-porous surface supports hygiene and ease of maintenance, while its repairable nature ensures the investment holds its condition over time. Dune Prima was selected for its quiet warmth and tonal consistency, allowing the material itself to recede and let the architecture speak.

Integrated Design

Corian® is applied holistically across the ensuite, forming a single coherent material statement. The application includes:

• A fully integrated benchtop and washplane in Corian® Dune Prima
• Corian®-clad joinery walls and drawer fronts
• Structural vanity form constructed entirely in Corian® — not surface-applied

This approach eliminates the layering of materials that typically defines a bathroom interior, allowing the space to read as one resolved object rather than a collection of finishes.

Fabricator Note

Multiform brought established expertise with Corian® to a project scope that extended well beyond standard fabrication. Rather than adapting new techniques, the team drew on deep material knowledge to execute an application that pushes the boundaries of how Corian® is typically used in residential interiors.

Outcome

Snowdrop demonstrates how Corian® enables a level of spatial coherence that no other material can match at this scale of integration. Through seamless construction, structural application, and careful colour selection, the project elevates a master ensuite from a functional room into a defining feature of the home.
