Celebrating the Corian® Design Awards in Brussels & Paris

The CASF Conference, held in Belgium and France from 1–6 September 2025, brought together up to 100 guests from across Australia, including designers, fabricators, and joinery companies. The week kicked off with our Welcome Event on September 1, set against the stunning backdrop of Grand Place, Brussels, where the 2024 Corian® Design Awards were officially presented by Ryan Clarke, CASF Australia’s National Sales Manager alongside the CASF directors, Luciano Corso and Craig Smith.

The Residential Design Award was awarded to Teegan and Tyson Doherty of Doherty Building Group for their striking project La Casa Curvilínea. This Mediterranean-inspired family home makes bold use of flowing forms and seamless surfaces, brought to life through Corian®.

In his acceptance speech, Tyson Doherty said:

“We’re very grateful to be here, thanks to Sean and his team at Newgrove for all the help that they did to bring the project to life. Obviously, Corian® was the material we chose because of the flexibility and the beauty that it brought to the project so we’re very lucky to be able to use it.”

Fabrication was completed by Newgrove Benchtops, a trusted Corian® partner since 2008. Owner Sean Blood highlighted the skills of their lead fabricator, Justin:

“I do take the glory sometimes but this is the guy that does all the fabrication at Newgrove. He is very talented when it comes to thermoforming.”

Justin Blood in turn thanked Teegan and Tyson for trusting him with their vision.

Commercial Winner — T2 Heinemann Project, Sydney Airport

The Commercial Design Award went to Christopher Smith of Greater Group for the T2 Heinemann Project at Sydney Airport Terminals 2 and 3. The project transformed the airport’s retail spaces into an immersive shopping experience, with thermoformed Corian® at the heart of its elegant curves and sculptural displays.

Christopher described the importance of Corian® to the project:

“As a designer you get to dream a lot of magical shapes and fantastic things and often they can’t be built. Corian® is one of the few products that you can create exciting shapes with — and you need a great fabricator [to execute the design].”

He acknowledged S&A Simpson, the project fabricator, for their craftsmanship. S&A Simpson have been a trusted Corian® partner since 2011. While they were unable to attend the event in Brussels, CASF representative Rudi Tan presented the trophy to Shane Simpson of S&A Simpson earlier in Australia.

The Trophy

The designers and fabricators each received custom-made trophies designed by Mark Gacesa and crafted from Corian® Solid Surface, featuring a fluted texture to echo the elegance and versatility of the material. The trophies symbolise not just design achievement but the tactile beauty and creative possibilities of Corian®, making them a perfect memento for the projects’ innovation and craftsmanship.

The Prize & the Journey

Design winners received flights, accommodation in Brussels and Paris, and participation in all conference experiences, making the prize both a celebration and an unforgettable journey.

Beyond the awards night, the conference offered guests cultural exploration, design inspiration, product education, and the chance to connect with peers who share a passion for Corian® Solid Surface. These trips are designed not only to celebrate design excellence but also to foster collaboration, spark new ideas, and strengthen our community.

Looking Ahead

The Corian® Design Awards celebrate the power of collaboration between designers, builders, joiners, and fabricators, showcasing what can be achieved when vision meets the versatility of Corian®.

Congratulations again to our winners — Doherty Building Group and Greater Group — and to their fabricators, Newgrove Benchtops and S&A Simpson.

Entries are still open for Edition 2 of the 2025 Corian® Design Awards, which closes on 31 October 2025. We encourage designers, fabricators, and builders to submit their projects and join us in celebrating the next wave of innovation.
