The vision for this project was to incorporate arched louvered windows to protect the client’s outdoor area from inclement weather. These windows needed to be robust, easy to clean, and maintenance-free while maintaining a seamless and aesthetically pleasing design. Traditional timber joinery was initially considered, but the complexity of the arched shape presented challenges due to the numerous joins required, increasing the potential for failure over time.

Corian® Glacier White was selected for this project as it provided the ideal combination of durability, stability, and ease of maintenance. Its ability to withstand environmental exposure while remaining in pristine condition made it the perfect choice for exterior applications. Additionally, Corian® lends itself to heat shaping and forming, allowing for the creation of a seamless arched design without the need for multiple joins. This not only enhanced the structural integrity of the louvered windows but also ensured a sleek, modern aesthetic that aligned with the client’s vision.

The ability to heat and bend Corian® into shape proved to be a significant advantage over traditional materials. The arch, which would have been challenging with conventional timber joinery, was achieved effortlessly with Corian®, eliminating weak points and potential failure areas. The final installation exceeded expectations, offering a smooth, curved finish that was both functional and visually striking.

The success of this project reinforced the benefits of using Corian® for complex architectural applications. The seamless design, combined with its durability and low maintenance, made it an ideal choice for exterior louvered windows.
