Corian® Benchtops

Corian® Solid Surface is made from a blend of natural minerals and pure acrylic resin, creating a non-porous, solid surface that’s durable, hygienic, and easy to maintain.

Corian® Solid Surface has been silica free since it was invented in 1967. Unlike newer alternatives developed in response to the recent silica bans in Australia, Corian® Solid Surface has always been free from crystalline silica. This long-standing formulation makes it a safer and more trusted choice for all of our customers.

Corian® Solid Surface has been independently certified as Red List Free and carries a Declare Label, meaning it contains no harmful chemicals. Corian® also has low VOC emissions, contributing to healthier indoor air quality. It’s a safe choice for residential, commercial, and healthcare environments.

Corian® joins are often called inconspicuous and seamless. A simple test we use to determine an inconspicuous join is to stand approximately a metre and a half from the Corian® benchtop and you should not be able to see the join.
While this is true for most colours of Corian®, the organic collection has a veined pattern that can vary in intensity and potentially highlight a join. The joins will still be seamless, however they may not be as inconspicuous as other colours of Corian®.

Corian® can be used outdoors for applications such as BBQ benchtops, alfresco kitchens, and seating areas. We recommend selecting UV-rated 1 colours which are good choices for exterior applications. All Corian® colours can be renewed to its original appearance even if some sun damage has occurred. That’s because Corian® is a homogeneous (through-body) material, meaning the colour and pattern run all the way through. The surface can be professionally refinished to restore its original look.

Corian® is non-porous, meaning liquids and bacteria can’t penetrate the surface — making it incredibly easy to clean and maintain ensuring stains are never permanent. It is an excellent choice for hygienic environments. There are no grout lines or visible joins, so there are fewer places for mould, dirt, or germs to accumulate.
This makes Corian® ideal not just for kitchens and food preparation areas (it’s NSF/ANSI 51 food safe certified), but also for hospitals, aged care, and children-related spaces like schools, childcare centres, and playground bathrooms — anywhere cleanliness and hygiene are a top priority.

Corian® Solid Surface has a similar hardness to marble benchtops. Corian® is a durable, non-porous solid surface designed for everyday use in kitchens, bathrooms, and other high traffic areas. While it can get scratched if exposed to sharp or abrasive objects, minor scratches can be cut and polished, restoring the surface to a like-new finish. This repairability is a key advantage over other materials. Corian® offers the perfect balance of durability, ease of maintenance, and the ability to refresh its appearance when needed.

It is not recommended to put hot pots, baking dishes, etc. onto a Corian® benchtop (or any other benchtop surface with the exception of stainless steel). Instead, the use of a heat pad is recommended.
In many instances such behaviour will not damage the Corian®, although in some cases excessive heat can discolour the benchtop. However, any discolouration can be buffed out or repaired on site.
