Corian® enhances design with unlimited artistic potential

Nubo as its name suggests, is a place of ‘dreaming and imagination’  – and is hard to pin down with its unlimited potential. Stimulating and inclusive, it is a ‘one of a kind play centre’  designed to encourage learning, exploration and  boundless imagination.

Corian® evokes dreaming and imagination

Children are respected yet always stimulated, while parents are encouraged to engage and interact with them through and through. Its core spaces satiate children’s curiosity and emphasises the concept of ‘Pure Play’ to make and create, with facilities carefully designed and flexibly suited for children aged two to eight. Suited for children in their various stages of learning to safely explore the entire space. The overall design takes a minimalist approach to remove unnecessary furniture and equipment – with just enough to invent their own games.

Inspired ‘Pure Play’ for all ages

Nubo boasts a variety of ‘Pure Play’ spaces and activities including an extensive children’s library; a building and rooms full of Big Blue Block, MagFormers, Lego Wedo 2.0 and Kaleido Gears; a café where children can make a range of healthy dishes; and a zone for active play completed with opportunities to slide, climb and hide. Adults are also invited to relax and even learn alongside their children with child-like curiosity. ‘Pure Play’, after all, means something for everyone in this well-designed space to enjoy.

Safe and ease of maintenance

Corian®  was chosen for its; design abilities, flexible attributes, safety reasons, ease of maintenance and relatively low cost.

Calm Corian® palette encourages exploration

Nubo is a Scandinavian design and simplicity is realised by adopting a clean and calm colour palette to minimise any distractions yet, encouraging learning, exploration and boundless imagination.

Creating a safe environment where toddlers and children could participate happily was a  key design challenge overcome easily with Corian®.

The clever material attributes echoe with minimalistic aesthetics helping to create a sense of home,  developing a comfortable content atmosphere for children, parents, teachers and staff.

Sensory appeal with anti-bacterial properties

PAL Design were happy with Corian® suggesting it is ‘a Wise choice for daily operations when the space is for kids: Corian® is easy to maintain which can be cleaned with wet wipes and most importantly it is bacteria-free’ also, ‘the overall cost for material and maintenance can be kept low’. The sensory appeal of the material together with its non-porous contribution prevents cross-infection and provides a trustworthy response to appropriate cleaning.

Thermoformable

Corian® can be thermoformed in wooden or metal moulds at controlled temperatures in order to create various 2D and 3D design objects. Corian® can also be used as inlays, accents, or as a versatile complement to other materials such as metal, wood, stone, glass and more.

Non-Toxic

Corian® is an inert, resistant and non-toxic material this means it is ideal for use in public areas and for sensitive applications required by projects like this  one.
