This project transforms a traditional semi into a modern sanctuary for a young family, blending functionality with a refined sense of design. A striking feature of the renovation is the conceptual convex curved ceiling diagram, which introduces alternating ceiling heights to optimise natural light and airflow. This architectural approach defines the different living zones of the dwelling while also creating uplifting spaces that evoke a sense of openness and fluidity throughout the addition.

Corian® was chosen as a central material in the design due to its ability to support the project’s free-flowing layout and sectional form. Its clean, minimal, and streamlined aesthetic aligns seamlessly with the overall vision, enhancing both form and function. Used extensively across the living, kitchen, and laundry areas, the Corian® benchtops include integrated sinks that further strengthen the sense of continuity and simplicity.

The material also plays a crucial role in balancing the palette of textures within the home. Acting as a visual break between the stone floors and splashback, the Glacier White Corian® surfaces bring a light, crisp quality to the interiors. The curved white benchtops echo the architectural ceiling design, while the integrated sinks reinforce the fluidity of the layout. Slim benchtop edges lend a delicate sense of lightness, ensuring the joinery and surrounding spaces feel cohesive and elevated.

Beyond its aesthetic impact, the project offered valuable learnings in terms of substrate requirements and site delivery, deepening the design and construction team’s understanding of working with Corian® in complex applications. The outcome is a home that harmonises design innovation with material performance, offering the family a contemporary environment that feels both dynamic and serene.
