Bellevue Hill Kitchen

This apartment kitchen renovation by Dan Kitchens Australia was shaped by a brief that balanced function with creativity. The homeowners desired a practical layout with a subtle, timeless colour scheme, while giving the design team full freedom in form. As avid art lovers, they welcomed the idea of a kitchen that went beyond the purely functional—one that could also be appreciated as a sculptural statement within the home.

Corian® Neutral Concrete was used across all major surfaces, including benchtops, splashbacks, the island table and its support. The colour offers a good likeness to real concrete, but without any of the usual drawbacks—no porosity, and has reduced transport issues and maintenance concerns. It’s a comfortable surface to use daily, warmer to the touch than traditional materials, and well suited to the demands of a modern kitchen environment.

One of the key challenges with this project was apartment access, which often makes installing large-format materials like natural stone or porcelain difficult. Corian® offered an ideal solution: components were fabricated in the factory, cut into smaller sections for transport, and seamlessly rejoined on-site. Using Corian® Solid Surface eliminated visible seams and grout lines, achieving the clean, continuous finish that defined the design.

Dan Kitchens has worked with Corian® for decades, and this project reinforced its value once again—both as a highly workable material and as a reliable performer in everyday use. The finished kitchen strikes a balance between form and function, offering a refined sculptural quality that complements the home’s aesthetic while standing up to real-life use.
