The 8216 is a deep, integrated solid surface sink long favoured in laboratory environments for its hygienic, seamless construction and chemical resistance — but its versatility extends well beyond the lab. It is equally well suited to laundries, utility rooms, cleaners’ rooms, and any space requiring a generous basin depth for practical, heavy-use tasks. Whether specified in a commercial, institutional, or residential context, the 8216 delivers the same durable, crevice-free performance wherever it is installed.
Corian® is non-porous, hygienic, and resistant to a wide range of chemicals encountered in everyday laboratory and utility environments. The seamless, crevice-free surface eliminates areas where bacteria, contaminants, or residue can accumulate — an important consideration in clinical, research, educational, and commercial settings where hygiene and cleanliness protocols are rigorous.
Yes — the key advantage of specifying a Corian® integrated sink is the ability to join it seamlessly to a Corian® benchtop of the same colour. The resulting join is invisible and completely crevice-free, eliminating any gap between sink and bench where liquids, chemicals, or contaminants could collect. This makes it significantly more hygienic than drop-in or undermount alternatives with exposed seams.
For laboratory environments, a plastic waste fitting is strongly recommended over chrome or metal alternatives. Many chemicals routinely used in labs — including acids, solvents, and cleaning agents — can corrode or degrade metal waste components over time. A plastic waste fitting is more resistant to chemical exposure and better suited to the demands of an active lab environment, reducing maintenance requirements and the risk of premature fitting failure. For laundry and utility applications, either plastic or metal waste fittings are generally suitable.
Yes — one of the most practical advantages of solid surface is its repairability. Minor scratches, scuffs, or marks sustained through regular use can be sanded back and refinished in situ, without the need to remove or replace the sink. This makes it a sound long-term investment for high-use environments.
