In 2022, one of the crucial measures of responsible production is a product’s sustainability. Corian® Design is working alongside the international community who are seeking a sustainable tomorrow; we’re all working to enable people to thrive at home and in their communities for years to come.
In order to make this vision a reality, Corian® has planned a sustainability approach over the next decade. Inspired by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, these solutions contribute to solving climate change, driving the circular economy, delivering safer solutions and helping communities to grow and thrive.
When our customers choose Corian® Solid Surface, not only do they receive a surfacing product that is aesthetically rich and practically superior, but they’re also making a positive contribution to our role as human caretakers of the natural environment.
Enabling circularity
The circular economy has the potential to be a major ongoing contributor to sustainably approaching product creation within a harmonious framework. Designed to tackle global challenges including climate change, circular economies reduce material use, redesign materials to be less intensive in terms of the resources they require for production, and utilise waste as a resource in and of itself.
Corian® Solid Surface contributes to the goal of a global circular economy through the use of a product for as long as possible, as well as within the shorter loops of material circulation – in essence, a focus on reuse, repair, upgrade and refurbishment. As Corian® Solid Surface is a highly durable product, designed not only to last longer but to be easily repaired, its use in interior design, architecture and furniture unlocks potential for resource savings.
With a range of colours with between 5-20% pre-consumer recycled content and a zero landfill status globally for manufacture since 2011, Corian® Solid Surface is designed for a sustainable future.
Promoting transparency
Corian® Design’s commitment to sustainability is demonstrated by independent awards and certifications that note its environmental and hygienic performance. Each product has Product-Specific Type III Environmental Product Declarations, which are the most credible, independently verified information about the life-cycle environmental impact of our products.
Corian® Solid Surface is Red List free. A Red List free status means companies have disclosed 100% of ingredients that have been found to obtain no Red List chemicals at notable levels. Products with the Red List Free label comply with the Living Building Challenge’s goals of ingredient transparency and elimination of harmful Red List chemicals. There is no Crystalline Silica in any Corian® Solid Surface, removing the risk of exposure to harmful silica particles.
Reducing impact
As a part of the manufacturing process, Corian® Design is committed to minimising environmental impact. Our North American plants use 100% renewable energy sources for all material they produce and also participate in the Responsible Care program of national and international chemical industry associations.

A brighter future together
By providing a product that’s designed and manufactured with sustainability at its core, Corian® Design enables a generation of interior designers, architects and furnishing companies to build for the long term without sacrificing creativity.

Why choose Corian®?
Corian® is made from 2/3 natural minerals and 1/3 acrylic binder, making it the ultimate in modern surface design. Easy to maintain and work with, sheets of Corian® can be cut and fitted on-site, with seamless joins. This opens up a world of possibilities in every room of the house or commercial space for a wide range of surface applications.
In the bathroom, Corian® vanity tops offer a host of benefits.
Stain-resistant
Worry no more about vanity stains with Corian®. It’s one of the most stain-resistant surface materials available and is easy to clean. With no gaps in the joining process, there are also no places for dirt, mildew, germs or viruses to hide.
When it comes to cleaning, a simple microfiber cloth and soapy water is all you need. As Corian® is a solid material, unlike composite surface materials, the colour and textures run through the entire thickness and therefore cannot wear or fade.

The votes are in, and our winners have been announced – it’s time to introduce the 2021 winners of the Corian® Design Awards! These Major Prize winners will enjoy a trip to Queenstown, New Zealand, with CASF.
The Corian® Design Awards celebrate the ingenuity and astounding, vibrant creativity with which the Australian design industry is abounding. The Awards recognise local designers who have made remarkable and innovative use of Corian® in their designs.
In previous years, the Awards have rewarded cutting-edge design and forward-thinking in projects across commercial and residential subsectors. From hospitals and offices to airports and high-end apartments, our judging panels have looked beyond project types to identify bold, divergent thinking, dexterous material use and impeccable craftsmanship.
2021 was no different, with Australia’s design and architectural communities celebrating the best Corian®-designed restaurants, cafes, bars, installations, office spaces and retail spaces for food and drink. With eight projects shortlisted, they highlight detailed, seamless, innovative design approaches that demonstrate a high quality of craftsmanship.
The Residential Winner: Ultraspace
Island Retreat by Mark Gacesa of Ultraspace took out this year’s Residential 2021 Corian® Design Award. Our judging panel took note of the many applications of Corian® throughout the design, used in cleverly detailed, seamless, innovative and unexpected ways. With a high number of Corian® finishes, products and applications throughout, Gacesa looked to create unique points of interest while maintaining symbiosis and harmony.
Going above and beyond the practical applications of Corian® benchtops, integrated sinks and splashbacks, this design used Corian® in the form of decorative screens, fluted panels and bespoke items of furniture and joinery throughout the home. Overall, the judges were deeply impressed by the sense of strength, translucency, solidity and delicacy, expressed through several repeated and layered applications in this beautiful project.
Congratulations, Ultraspace!
The Commercial Winner: Woods Bagot
This cafe bar’s sculptural design truly showcased the unique qualities of the Corian® selection, demonstrating a high quality of craftsmanship within its impressive curvaceous bar. The selection of both ‘Summit white’ and ‘Witch Hazel’ grain, as well as the overall subtle colour tones, worked magnificently to highlight the seamless and smooth velvet-like qualities of Corian®. The bar itself carries both an impressively monolithic design while also cleverly concealing the functional needs of the cafe-bar.
The judging panel was thoroughly impressed by this beautiful, luxurious and inviting commercial space!

With two Department of Communities and Justice offices requiring a revamp, it was a natural choice to use Corian® surfaces and CASF timber. Read on to find out more.
The project
Julie Roberts and the team from MKDC were tasked with reinventing the Joondalup and Mirrabooka offices of the Department of Communities and Justice. Both of the offices were undergoing significant remodelling, and there were a few key focuses for Julie and the team.
Firstly, the public spaces needed to use durable surfaces that were also low maintenance. As a public area, surfaces need to be kept clean and hygienic with as little effort as possible. They also wanted to utilise timber throughout the office to add warmth – previously, there were a lot of laminates used in the space, and they wanted a more natural look.
Overall, the focus was on combining easy maintenance, durability and aesthetic appeal all in one. Fortunately, CASF was able to provide all of that and more.
CASF Timber
As this project called for plenty of timber, the team needed to find innovative ways to bring this into the office design. CASF timber was used for some beautiful overhead structures in the tea room and staff hub areas. The light tone of Ash timber was selected, and it plays perfectly with the overhead lighting and hanging plants.
The same timber was used for communal benchtops, tables and surrounds in the open office areas, bringing the colour scheme and natural timber feel together. Trims to whiteboards and pinboards also used Ash timber from CASF.
CASF timber was chosen for its capacity to be modelled into any shape required. Using 42mm wide staves that are finger-jointed together, benchtops can be made to any specifications desired. Best of all, because each piece is solid timber, the knots and grain variations create an authentic, natural look, unlike laminates.
Corian® surfaces
Corian® was used as the main reception and service counters as well as benchtops in the kitchens. A mix of colours creates a fresh palette and allows delineation across the spaces, while thermoforming allows for sweeping curved reception and concierge counters.
These are of particular note. Thermoforming is a process where Corian® Solid Surface is shaped in wooden or metal moulds to create curved surfaces and other shapes. In this instance, embossing techniques were also used to create a classy aesthetic befitting a modern government office.
The beauty of Corian® surfaces is the durability and ease of cleaning. There are no visible joins in Corian® benchtops and service counters, meaning keeping them clean is an absolute breeze. In that respect, the material certainly ticks a major box for this project.

Commercial Winner: Australian Space Discovery Centre, SA
Designed by Andrew Staker of JPE Design Studio, the Australian Space Discovery Centre aims to inspire the next generation of the space workforce with stories of innovation, curiosity and technology. Here, young and old alike can learn about Australia’s role in expanding national and international space activities.
Staker employed the colours of Corian® Ash Concrete and Rain Cloud in his work throughout the Discovery Centre. Corian® was chosen for the main central information and reception hub, as the design called for a material that was capable of being formed and moulded in a unique and seamless way. Corian® was able to provide a planetary form, as well as being heavy enough in its appearance to anchor the space.
The Space Gallery celebrates Australia’s contemporary work and excellence in the space sector, and Staker’s use of Corian® materials embodies this innovation and excellence in every element of its physical design.
Residential Winner: Island Retreat
Designed by Mark Gacesa of Ultraspace, a wide range of colours of Corian® were used in this beautiful island retreat. Here, Whisper, Savannah, Neutral Concrete, Neutral Aggregate, Glacier White and Glacier Ice all work together to bring Gacesa’s vision to life.
‘A product with extreme versatility and durability was required to coordinate my elegantly timeless and serene art-based theme weaving through this island retreat project,’ says Gacesa. ‘With all the organic 3D textures, thermoforming and complicated shapes, Corian® was the obvious and only product to be used to achieve my unique and seamless result.’

CASF has recently released a new range of Axix™ sinks, bringing together all the functionality of stainless steel and the flawless finish of Corian® surface material. If you thought you’d already seen the best in modern sink design, be prepared to change your mind.
With a range of colours and finishes to choose from, Axix™ sinks give your kitchen or bathroom a completely revitalised look. Plus, there are plenty of other benefits.
What is the Axix™ sink?
Our brand-new range of Axix™ sinks gives you a choice of completely modern, beautifully designed kitchen and bathroom remodelling options. To the naked eye, the base of the sink is stainless steel, just like any other. However, the walls are Corian® surface material, meaning your benchtop can flow seamlessly into your sink with no visible joins or obstructions.
The fabrication process is completed in our workshop, delivering a watertight solution that handles boiling hot water and looks amazing. The availability of a PVD metallic finish gives you plenty of options depending on your home’s interior style.
Versatility of design
A sink that perfectly blends with your benchtop is the ultimate in understated kitchen and bathroom design. Axix™ sinks are specifically designed to work with Corian® benchtops, providing a seamless transition from bench to sink. Alternatively, Axix™ sinks can be surrounded by a recessed edge to catch water.
Pair your Axix™ sink with modern tap fittings to match the stainless steel base, and you’ll have a beautiful modern style that will impress even the most astute interior designer. Best of all, Axix™ sinks can be custom designed to suit your needs. From a large kitchen sink to a small wash station, CASF can design to your specifications.
No corrosion or tarnishing
The PVD finish is a thin film or coating that gives you an extremely durable and long-lasting surface. While you may assume that durability is weakened by the Corian® sides, the PVD finish used is stronger than stainless steel. There is no additional coating required after this, meaning there’s no possibility of tarnishing or corrosion.
In terms of keeping your sink clean, the Axix® is extremely simple, thanks to the naturally germ-resistant and easy-to-clean Corian® surface.
Insulated protective coating
All of our new Axix™ sinks come with a protective coating on the underside, known as Insusound®. This revolutionary technology insulates the sink, making it easier to retain water heat. It also reduces plumbing noise and any sounds from a waste disposal unit if installed.
A range of colours
If traditional stainless steel doesn’t mesh with your design tastes, you’ll love our range of colours. Not only do you have the option of matching the interior walls of your sink with your benchtop, but you can also choose the colour of the stainless steel. Select from classi stainless steel, gunmetal, copper or gold brass for an exciting, fresh look.

As the national distributor of Corian®, we provide a seamless solution to a multitude of demands in surface design. Always innovating, CASF is proud to launch the new range of Series 5 Corian® Washplanes for public bathrooms. Whether you’re running a hospitality business or a hospital, these ultra-hygienic public wash basins are designed for easy cleaning, flawless visual appeal and generous basin size.
The public bathroom within a commercial building reflects on the business itself. Make a seriously good impression; make your washroom echo your unique brand personality. It’s time to discover the upsides of Corian® 5 Series Washplanes.
The perfect public bathroom solution
For commercial building owners who take pride in both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of restrooms, CASF brings you the ultimate solution. Whether you want larger basins, more space for Airblade systems, soap dispensers and other hand-dryers, or you just want something that’s easy to clean and maintain, the 5 Series Washplanes deliver it all.
Fully customisable to your specifications, you can impress your customers and clients with the sleek, modern designs on offer. Using Corian® surface material – the most hygienic option – these washplanes are germ-resistant, non-toxic and feature no visible joins where bacteria, dirt or dust can gather. For modern bathrooms, the only choice is Corian® Washplanes.
Easy to clean
One of the winning elements of Corian® surface material is that it’s so easy to clean. There are no joins, which means wiping over the surface doesn’t result in germs and contaminants becoming wedged in gaps. It’s also incredibly stain-resistant.
Another feature of the 5 Series Washplanes is the coved internal corners. With no square corners that are notoriously difficult to clean, these new public bathroom sink designs are so simple to keep clean.
No more items in the waste system
The difficulty with maintaining many public washbasins is the drainage hole, which is typically a standard drain. In public spaces, it’s not uncommon for all sorts of objects to be left in the sink, only to end up in the waste system, potentially causing major issues. You can get around this with a grated drain, however, this often impacts the aesthetic appeal in bathrooms that need a little more style.
The concealed drainage on the 5 Series Washplanes is nothing more than a thin strip, meaning no foreign objects can find their way in to cause havoc on the waste system.
More space
Our 5 Series Washplanes give you more space than ever before, with the sleek design allowing for larger basin sizes. Best of all, you won’t have to sacrifice soap dispensers or hand drying equipment because there’s plenty of room for everything. The standard model is designed for 500mm x 375mm wash basins, which still leaves plenty of room for a soap dispenser and tap.
Take advantage of our customisable options – we can work with any size and application. At CASF, we’re all about versatility and maximising the space available.

Why was Corian® chosen?
Corian® was chosen for the main central information and reception hub as the design called for a material that was able to be formed and moulded in a unique and seamless way that could provide a planetary form as well as being heavy enough in it’s appearance to anchor the space.

Why was Corian® chosen?

To improve a high-traffic restroom in a busy university, it took the perfect combination of Corian® Washplanes and Airblade™ hand drying technology from Dyson. Here’s how a contemporary bathroom was designed with a focus on functionality and hygiene.
The project
Queen Mary’s University in London required a complete remodelling of their restroom facilities, with a focus on creating a more positive experience. In high-traffic areas, the restrooms need to be easy to clean while incorporating ways to ensure less water spillage. The key emphasis was also on maximising the available space, with long sections of the walls dedicated to hand-washing and drying.
Previously, the hand dryers were previously separated from the basins, leading to students dripping water on the floor and creating an unsafe environment. With a combination of Corian® all-in-one Washplanes and the revolutionary Dyson Airblade™ tap hand dryers, the perfect solution was discovered.
Corian® Washplanes
The ultimate in restroom space-saving technology, the all-in-one Corian® Washplane is the perfect solution for high-traffic restrooms such as Queen Mary’s University. The number of taps installed along the wall can be slightly increased without the need for individual wash basins. Importantly, the Corian® surface material used in the washplane’s manufacturing is non-porous, non-toxic and completely hygienic. Known for being naturally germ-resistant, Corian® is super-easy to clean, even in busy restrooms.
In addition, using Corian® allows for join-free installation. This means no water ingress occurs, and other contaminants such as dust and bacteria can’t build up in the gaps. With no gaps, there is also no mould, and even the waste system is easier to maintain. Water drainage is hidden, and there are no traditional drains, so the amount of debris and foreign objects reaching the waste system is drastically reduced. The water drains along a thin gap, which also eliminates the need for additional drain cleaning.
The Dyson Airblade™
Dyson has been manufacturing innovative solutions for years, over many different applications. One of the areas the brand excels is in restroom facilities, specifically hand-drying. For this project, we chose to use the Dyson Airblade™ tap hand dryer. This multi-functional product is perfect for an environment like this – where space is of the essence.
The Airblade™ is a thin cylinder on the side of the tap that provides powerful air drying. It only takes about 12 seconds to dry hands and is also completely contactless, thanks to infrared sensors. In fact, sophisticated technology uses these sensors to determine whether water or air is required, based on hand position.
Not only do these tap hand dryers look great, but they eliminate the need to drip water all over the floor when moving from the sink to the hand dryer. Everything is done over the washplane, again improving cleaning and maintenance requirements for the restroom.
