‘Solstice’ Beachside dwelling, Adelaide
The luxurious ‘Solstice’ beachside dwelling, located in one of the most sought after and prominent beach front locations in Adelaide, underwent a complete redesign to create a home that is modern in design, yet complements the surrounding area.
The coastal environment was the initial inspiration behind the interior design. The project architects, DC Architecture, took cues from the waterfront vista and positioned the kitchen island as the centre piece for the home, designing a contemporary and sleek interior around this space.
The flexibility of the DuPont™ Corian® material enabled DC Architecture to achieve the design of the eight-metre-long and streamlined curved kitchen island bench, which would otherwise be impossible with other materials. The kitchen island also incorporates the seamless design of Corian® integrated sinks, allowing for the fluid design to be maintained from one end of the bench to the other.
The bathroom also features Corian® vanities with integrated basins to continue the sleek interior design theme of the kitchen. The hygienic benefits of the seamless Corian® design and integrated sinks are ideal for wet areas.
Using the unique Corian® joining technology for the sinks, bathroom vanities and kitchen island eliminates traps for dirt and grime that lead to the growth of mould, and helps the homeowner maintain a long lasting perfect finish.
With beautiful surroundings, modern interior design and a dramatic presence on the Adelaide shore, the ‘Solstice’ is an impressive example of creative architectural elements being brought to life with Corian®.
