Baker Residence
On beginning this project, Mal’s clients were very open to a kitchen that made a statement. The kitchen space was extended to take in an adjoining room, which was previously used as a gym. The new space created a very long, narrow room that now provided views of the front garden, looking down to the sea views.
“As my clients were very designed focused, I chose Corian® for the main island and scullery tops. My clients loved the seamless look of the product with no open joins, along with the warm feel,” says Mal.
Mal used Corian® to clad the cabinetry front, sides and part of the island flowing all the way to the floor. Also featured is an LED blade light through the centre of the front to create impact. The Corian® was cantilevered at the other end for seating and effect.
“My design included a long island that is 6.2 metres long. With no open joins, and my choice of double Corian® integrated sinks with a recessed drainer – it definitely created that seamless feel,” adds Mal.
